Road Works - Confused??

According to recent signage displayed by Kent Highway Services, Common Road was to be closed for a week. This turned out not to be true infact the works were completed on Monday and the road was opened to traffic by mid day.
The brief closure ran from West of the slip road and did not affect traffic coming up the slip to the village.

KHS said "Unfortunately the sign erected was located incorrectly and did rather over state the closure." - a masterful understatement!!

KHS say "Common Road is being prepared for surface dressing planned for this May though we do not have a firm date at present. Prior to the main works a letter detailing what is being done and the duration of the works will delivered."

An appeal has been made to the Planning Inspectorate by Mr Cook against an enforcement notice issued by the Council alleging a breach of planning control on the above-mentioned land, namely without planning permission the unauthorised erection of a fence and gates and the creation of a hardsurface.

The appeal will be dealt with by the submission of written representations and a site inspection by the appointed Inspector. Road Works - A229 Blue Bell Hill

The Chatham -bound side of Blue Bell Hill will be closed to all traffic from 9pm Friday 28th March through to 5am on Monday 31st March.
The purpose is to resurface 3.5km of the road from the M20 to the Lord Leas roundabout at the top of Blue Bell Hill.
Local residents will be pleased to know that 'quiet material' will be used to reduce road noise!
