Fostington Way Traffic Calming

The pedestrian crossing and traffic calming measures are now in place improving the safety of pedestrians, particularly school children.

There is still concern at the speed of traffic travelling in Fostington Way.

Allan Sullivan and Peter Homewood have taken up this concern with Kent Highway Services and are pleased to say that after monitoring the traffic for speed and frequency KHS has accumulated compelling evidence to warrant police action. This matter is being progressed.

speaking as a driver the traffic calming measure did not work they were a huge waste of money which has not resolved any of the issues. It is still just as difficult to get out of the side roads and the buses drive slowly up the steep hill causing backlogs of traffic and still turn into roads they are too big for. The crossing is on the brow of the hill next to a busy junction where drivers have lots to look out for.
Its a disaster waiting to happen and to top it all off the council lets more houses be built on the corner? whoever is designing your roads knows nothing about the local traffic.

Thank you for visiting our blog! I think some benefit has been derived particularly for pedestrians (school children)who previously had to literally dash to a centre island and then make a dash to the other side. An extensive study was undertaken by KCC to install traffic lights at the junction but the report concluded that the benefits would be marginal and not cost effective!
